An employer’s tax rate determines the amount they pay in state Unemployment Insurance (UI) taxes. The Texas Workforce Commission calculates the UI tax owed by multiplying the taxable wages by the employer’s tax rate. There’s a maximum limit on taxable wages per employee per calendar year, currently set at $9,000 by statute.
Employers can view their tax rates and obtain copies of tax rate notices using Unemployment Tax Services (UTS).
